White Russian

The White Russian had a perhaps unfair reputation as an “unsophisticated” drink, to the point where it’s used as a punchline in the cult film “The Big Lebowski”, where it’s The Dude’s favorite cocktail. Part of this reputation comes from its ease of make, but that doesn’t mean new wrinkles can’t be found in the recipe. White Russians only have their name because of their emphasis of vodka, so we fittingly used Portland Potato Vodka, which has a rich, balanced flavor all on its own. The Dude drinks them Caucasian-style, meaning he only mixes them with vodka and milk. We insisted on keeping the addition of coffee liqueur, so we chose Portland’s own New Deal coffee liqueur. Whether shaken or stirred, you have a humble friend with a rich flavor ready to keep you warm through the winter.

2 parts Portland Potato Vodka
1 part New Deal Coffee Liqueur
1 parts Half-and-Half

Shake or stir in an Old-Fashioned glass over ice. Sip through a paper straw at your leisure to enjoy the flavor.
